Lovely Limoges

Dear everyone,

I love Limoges! It's always this way where we don't want to leave a secteur and then when we get there, we love the new one. :) We've seen so many miracles this week! One was trying to pass a potential. When we got to her house Sœur M said a quick prayer that she would be there so we could meet with her. Then we rang and stood there for a couple minutes. No one came. We were just about to turn around to leave when she drove up! She said "j'arrive !" so we waited while she parked and came around to the door. She came and opened the gate and welcomed us into her house without hardly asking who we were and what we wanted! That is the first time that had happened before! She was so kind. We sat and talked pour beliefs for quite a while. She felt strongly that every religion had truth and there was no such thing as one true religion. We tried to explain, but in the end it was pretty evident that she wasn't really willing to change her ideas. But still it was a good visit and she was very thoughtful. As we were leaving she gave us some garden grown green beans!

Another miracle is that we were able to set up three rendez vous next week with amis neither of us have met with before! I was astounded by how willing people were to meet with us! It is so amazing! I'm hopeful that they will continue to want to learn after our first rendez vous.

Then another miracle is that an ami named M who hasn't been in contact with the sœurs for the last four weeks came to church! I didn't recognise her because I had never met her, but Sœur M did and she said she was so happy and relieved to see her there! M seems really sweet and will say frankly if she doesn't understand something and asks good questions. She said we could meet during the week too!

Then I got to meet three other amis this week too! There is M, an older man who has been researching the church for a long time. He loves to talk about the gospel. He works on his family history and come to church. There are just a couple things he's not willing to give up to get baptised. We're working on that.

Then there is T. She's been visiting her friend who is a member here in Limoges. She's from Martinique. She is super sweet! It hasn't been very long since she's started taking the lessons and we're worried she's a little overwhelmed and not understanding everything completely. So we're going slowly :)

Then there is S who was an ami à few years ago. She's from Italy. We got to visit with her for a few minutes to set up a rdv for this week. She's really sweet too! Everyone is so nice. :)

Every night we send a text message with a scripture from a chapter from the Book of Mormon in order and an explanation of something taught in the verse. So far three of the amis have told us that they love getting the messages and learn from them! I love sending them because it's a chance to bear a little testimony every evening. :)

Limoges is very beautiful and very tranquil. The other night though we had finished planning and we heard a whizzing noise and people yelling and cheering a bit. We were talking and at first didn't really pay attention. But then we looked out the window and saw that it was the Tour de France ! There were bikers whizzing by! It's crazy because it was around ten at night!

The sister who taught relief society yesterday talked about how she fell away from the Church years ago. At first it was because she worked on Sundays helping disabled people. It was a work she couldn't really just let drop on Sundays. But eventually she quit being active altogether. But there was family in the ward that never let her drop. They kept visiting her and being her friend for years and years. She said they never judged her. She got married to someone. And eventually she realised that she missed something spiritually and she started to come back and when she did she had this family there to help her. Now she's back, her husband and her son are baptised, and her daughter comes with her to church. All those years of them never giving up paid off. She said they never gave up even when she told them from the very beginning she wanted to hear nothing about the church. I loved that story. The lesson was on ministering. Or translated directly from French, service as a shepherd. It's not as pretty in English, but I like the image of bringing people back to the fold of God.

I love you all! I hope you have a wonderful week!
