Good-bye, Saint-Raphael
Dear everyone,
This has been another great week in the mission. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be here! :)
This week we engaged our ami J to baptism! We taught the lesson on the gospel of Jesus Christ and it went really well. We showed the video of Christ being baptised and read 3 Nephi 27:19-20 which is an invitation From Christ himself to be baptized. At first J was a little hesitant because she didn't feel like she knew enough about the gospel yet, but we explained she didn't need to know everything but that she would be able to receive a confirmation from the Spirit through prayer and scripture study. And then she accepted the invitation and June 30th as her date of baptism. She is really so wonderful and I can so easily imagine her as a faithful member and preparing to go through the temple.
We had another rendez vous with an ami from Cannes. It was a really wonderful lesson. We taught the plan of Salvation and invited her to be baptized but she wouldn't accept because her companion is completely against getting married. She said she would want to be baptised but she's afraid of addressing the problem with him because he hasn't been happy about the idea in the past. So we promised to pray for her.
This week we also had a District meeting where we celebrated reaching our goal of working with a thousand members in the month of May. We got to Skype in with the whole mission to hear a little bit from President Brown. Then after District meeting we went contacting with a member from Saint-Raphael. She had a very comforting conversion story. She said she had been a praying for weeks to find the truth and then the missionaries came to her door and brought her the gospel. And she's been a strong member ever since. Both her and her husband. I love hearing inspiring conversion stories. We didn't have a whole lot of succès in our contacting but one man did accept a Book of Mormon and a card with our information! Planting seeds I hope. :)
On Friday morning we got to go with the elders to à rendez vous with their ami N. She has been doing incredibly well with all of the lessons. She said she's been feeling sick since she's quit coffee, but she's been keeping moving forward! That is so amazing! They taught a lesson about faith and she asked the elders to give her a blessing. They did a blessing of healing and it was such a beautiful experience. There haven't been very many times when I've witnessed a blessing of healing and it made me so grateful for the power of the priesthood. God trusts us so much that he gives us His priesthood. Isn't that marvelous?
Then we received calls from President Brown telling us that Sœur Ewould rest in Saint-Raphael and I would stay in Cannes. We both received new companions. My new companion's name is Sœur S. Her grandpa is Elroy S from Beaver! Isn't that so fun? :) She's visited Beaver every Thanksgiving! She's really sweet. We just met today and since Saint-Raphael is keeping the car we took the train back to Cannes. She's been in the mission for a year now. It's going to be tricky learning all of the bus routes here! I ride a bus in Cannes for the first time today meaning I know nothing about the routes here. XD But I'm excited! It'll be an adventure. :) I was sad to say goodbye to the Saint-Raphael ward though. They are truly wonderful. It's such a homelike ward, like one big family.
This has been a grest week. I'm excited for the next transfer and to be able to start bus contacting again! Wish me luck! :)
I love you all!!
